Betty Louise Crowley

Betty Louise Crowley (nee Gassman) passed away on December 31st, 2017, at the age of 89 after a long illness. Her husband, Joseph and their four children; Karen Lauer (Dale), Denise Vassie (Craig), Joseph Crowley (Lisa), and Kim Crowley survive her. She also leaves behind her sister, Josephine and her loving grandchildren; Joshua, Danielle, Lauren, Casey, Emma, Kaitlin, Jack, and Mia, and one great-grandchild; Riley. She was predeceased by her sister Celine.
Betty was vibrant and loving and was always ready for the next experience. She was raised in San Francisco and attended St. Brigid’s school with her sisters. As a young woman, she worked as a model. She married Joe in 1950 and remained married to him for 67 years. While raising her family fulltime, she worked at various jobs including a bank bookkeeper, an elite gymnastics judge, and as a travel agent. She greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband, her family, and her friends. She will be remembered always for her unabashed generosity of heart and her ready smile. Betty will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
