Carolyn Adams Sudweeks

Our dear mom Carolyn Adams Sudweeks, 80, of Las Vegas, was reunited with her beloved husband Duane Ray Sudweeks on February 26, 2020. She was born January 6, 1940 to Durrell Kenneth Adams and Rowena Waite Adams at the family home in Bunkerville, Nevada.

Carolyn graduated from Virgin Valley High School in June of 1958. She graduated from Hollywood Beauty School in 1961 and kept up her beauty license for many years. She was known to give free haircuts to missionaries and permanent waves to all those who sought her beauty advice.

Carolyn studied at Brigham Young University where she met Duane Sudweeks on a blind date. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS St. George Temple on September 7, 1961.

Carolyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Relief Society and Young Women’s President, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and Stake Primary chorister. Carolyn possessed a beautiful alto voice and sang in many choirs throughout her life. Carolyn also played the piano and shared her love of music with her friends and family. For over six years she also led lots of fun cheers at Camp Simpson as the North Las Vegas Stake Camp Director. Carolyn and Duane served over twelve years as ordinance workers in the Las Vegas, Nevada Temple.

Carolyn loved being a mother. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious and she always had a friendly word of encouragement for all those she met. Her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were delicious. Her love of flowers was evident in her beautiful yard. Her greatest joy came from her family and her faith.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Duane and son Jeffrey; sister Delores Bradshaw (Lamar) and her brother Kenneth Durrell Adams (Paula).

Carolyn is survived by three daughters, Diane Sudweeks Ireland (Mark), Sherri Sudweeks Boehme, and Michele Sudweeks Boehme (Don); sister Kathleen DeFriez (Doug); twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Viewing was from 10-10:45 am Saturday, March 7 with funeral services at 11 am. Both were held at the LDS Chapel, 8801 W. Alexander Rd, Las Vegas.

Interment followed at 2:30 pm at the Bunkerville, Nevada Cemetery.

Our friends at La Paloma handled the arrangements.
