Christine Marie Mooney
Christine Marie Mooney peacefully passed away on April 8th, the eve of Easter 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 70. A loving and devoted mother to her cherished son Brian Metcalf, she retired from the Clark County School District after she supported various schools and students, and most recently served as a First Aide Safety Nurse’s Assistant. Born in Duluth, Minnesota on February 22, Christine lived most of her adult life in southern Nevada after initially moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962 as the eldest child of six siblings born to her parents Elwood and Charlene Engebretson. A Las Vegas Western High School graduate, following Christine’s first marriage, she travelled as an Air Force military spouse to various duty stations, and was fond of living in Lubbock, Texas. In fact, her Texas time sparked a spirited sports interest and found Christine an unwavering Dallas Cowboys fan from then on! There was much football fun and banter between Christine and her siblings over the years — most being Minnesota Viking fans — in their adult lives. Christine enjoyed traveling, the many beautiful beaches of California, spending precious time with her son, family, and friends, especially her best friend since high school, Glenny.
Christine, a beautiful person and kind soul raised in Catholic tradition, awoke with our Heavenly Father to be reunited with her many loved ones preceding her in physical death, including her hard-working and humorous husband Bruce Mooney (passed January 2021); dear grandparents Kathryn and Ernest Engebretson; veteran and firefighter father Elwood and mother Charlene Engebretson; and sisters Sandra Baker and Kathryn Hilton. Christine is survived by her son Brian Metcalf (Cassandra) of Henderson, NV; her two brothers Richard Engebretson (Lizabeth) and Ronald (Lynda) Engebretson of Las Vegas, NV; and sister Melissa Engebretson (Randy) of Lutz, Florida; in addition to numerous nephews and nieces. Family and friends are invited to attend Christine’s Celebration of Life, to be held on Friday, May 5th beginning at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of La Paloma Funeral Services, 5450 Stephanie St., Las Vegas, NV 89122.
