Curt Alan Whitaker
Curt Alan Whitaker, 43, of Las Vegas, devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away Saturday May 26, 2018.
Curt loved snowboarding, trips to Hawaii, wake surfing, riding his dirt bike, watching his boys ride, baseball, Dr. Pepper and Diet-Coke, family vacations, and cooking on his grill.
Curt was known to say, “Comin’ in hot!,” “Making it rain,” “You do your best and I’ll worry about the rest,” “Work hard, play hard,” “Figure it out,” and anything amazing was “Money.”
Curt knew how to have a good time. He was a masterful cook, especially with meats. Curt would cook the food as well as be the entertainment. He lived life on his own terms and had a great sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh, especially Holly.
He met his forever girlfriend, Holly Joy Stone, while attending college in Provo, Utah. After wearing “crap from the Gap” to impress Holly, he won her over and they were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 7, 1999. Curt’s heart was locked forever. They set off for Las Vegas to begin their new life together. Curt graduated from UNLV and they started their family with Dean Curtis followed by Jill Holly, Kara Jane, and Jay William.
Curt was a family man. He included his children in all his activities. As a family they snowboarded, wake surfed, boated, rode dirt bikes and vacationed together. Curt went into business with his dad and eventually took over Jay’s Plumbing. He successfully ran the business for over ten years and provided a life for himself and his family that he always described as “livin’ the dream.” He was accepting of everyone while never wavering from his beliefs. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Tokyo, Japan.
Curt befriended everyone he met. He sought out the misfits and put his arm around them. Everyone Curt called his friend was a friend for life, and he would do anything for them. He had a way of making all his friends feel like they were his best friend. Always the life of the party, his quick wit and infectious laugh made even simple interactions a moment to remember. Curt’s love for others truly dictated how he lived his life.
We love you, Curt!
