Curtis Lavell Lindsay

Mr. Curtis Lavell Lindsay, Ph.D., of Las Vegas, Nevada, born on March 16, 1934 in Center Creek (Heber City), Utah, to the late Ellen Caroline Christensen and the late Louis Lindsay, passed away peacefully at home at age 84 on May 28, 2018. While attending music classes at Dixie College in St. George he met Dorthy Hall in 1953. He and Dorthy were married on July 3, 1954. Curtis graduated from Brigham Young University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. The couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was in the Elementary Education industry at Clark County School District for 34 years until retiring in 1990. He inspired and touched the lives of many of his students through his love of music and caring heart. Curtis was the beloved husband of Dorthy Hall for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Howard Ballard; daughter, Lynn Lindsay Moulton; grandmothers, Sarah Lindsay and Lila Christensen; and grandfathers, Bennett Lindsay and Hyrum Christensen. Curtis is survived by his wife Dorthy, his son, Louis H Lindsay, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He had many hobbies including Audiophile, music composition, and sound editing. He was an accomplished musician and played concert piano and marimba, winning many 1st place positions in music competitions. He was an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Friends and family members may attend the funeral service on Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at 2285 Tree Line Drive Las Vegas, NV 89142. The funeral home will be La Paloma in Las Vegas. Burial at St. George City Cemetery
