Darrell Lynn Rish
Reflection of Life
Darrell Lynn Rish was born on November 13, 1958, to Richard and Dorothy Rish in Diboll, Tx. Darrell was raised in the fear and admonition of The Lord and was brought up going to church with his mother and his brothers. He was the oldest of four boys. During his young age, he attended elementary school in the city of Los Angeles, CA. At the age of 10, Darrell went to live with his maternal Grandmother Lena M. Taylor in the city of Diboll, TX. It was there that he attended both Diboll Jr High and Diboll High School. Later, he relocated back to Los Angeles, where he attended Downey Adult School and received his GED.
During his early employment history in Texas, Darrell worked for a company named Champions. After leaving Texas, he began working as a school bus driver in Gardena, CA. He was very proud of his accomplishments as a professional driver who drove both limousines and tour buses. Darrell was privileged to take various celebrities to their designated locations. As an accomplished driver, his passengers loved his work ethics, and he was once appreciated by receiving thank you cards from all over the world. Between his driving career, Darrell worked for the County of Los Angeles in the Department of Human Resources.
It was during Darrell’s tenure as a bus driver that he met the love of his life, Sonya Taylor. It was an unofficial introduction in the driver’s room at Cardinal School Bus Transportation. The two immediately caught eyes and the rest is history. Darrell and Sonya were married in June 1991 and later had two children named Miracle and Darrell (DJ) Jr. Prior to this union, he had 2 daughters, Latonya and Darnisha. In 2011, Darrell and Sonya relocated their family to Las Vegas NV, where he had a job awaiting his arrival. In December of 2019, due to his mother’s failing health, the two made the decision to relocate Dorothy, who was lovingly known as “Dot”, along with his brother Lionel (Roddie) to live with them. Dot remained with them until her passing in 2020. Darrell was a hardworking man, who loved his family and always wanted the best for them. Darrell worked for various bus companies where he made friends with his co-workers and was loved by them all. Darrell was a person who got along well with others. His loving and funny personality attracted those all around him even in his community and as a result, he built a great rapport with the neighbors where he currently resided. Darrell was known for the funny things he would say and the nicknames that he would give to everyone he met. Darrell enjoyed his wife’s cooking, especially her Oxtails. He would brag about her cooking at work to the point his co-workers would wait in expectation to see what she made for him every day.
Darrell had many talents and some he kept unknown such as his ability to draw which was a skill that he also passed down to his daughter Miracle and his granddaughter Londyn. His many hobbies included playing dominoes, fishing, and listening to old school music. Darrell was also an avid sports fan and was a #1 fan of the Lakers and the Raiders.
On July 15th, 2021, The Lord called Darrell from Labor to Reward and welcomed him to His open Heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard L Rish & Dorothy M Rish; his brothers Ricky and Raymond Rish. He will always be loved and remembered by his loving wife Sonya Rish; his beautiful daughters, LaTonya Nacole Williams (Lamont), Darnisha Nichole Rish, and Miracle Janay Rish, his namesake Darrell (DJ) Lynn Rish Jr, his caring brother Lionel Gerard Rish, his precious grandchildren- MyKai Ceballos, Londyn Williams, Isaiah Williams, Robert Williams, and Angela Williams; a total of 12 brother/sister in laws, and host of other relatives and friends.
