Donald Edwin Dike

DikeDonald Edwin Dike, 87 passed away quietly Thursday, August 11, 2016 after a brief illness.  Donald “Duke” was born the youngest of four sons on July 16, 1929 to Aaron David Dike and Anna Myrtle Martin Dike in Lincoln, Illinois.  He is preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Anna, brothers Dale, Wayne and Martin, son Russell Dana and wife Yvonne.  Don is survived by sons Michael (Kathy) and Richard “Dean” (Connie), daughter Jean Oyler (Nick Pahigiannis), daughter-in-law Vicki Dike, step-children Dianna Sullivan, Kathy Latham, John McInerney and Robert McInerney.  Don was the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition, Don is survived by his extended family Rebecca, Melissa and Giselle Sanchez and four legged family Doris Day and Cookie Dough.  Don proudly served in the United States Navy and worked as a barber, and police officer while living in Illinois.  Don moved to Las Vegas in 1973 and worked Security for the Aladdin, Frontier and finally Caesars Palace where he retired.

Viewing will be Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5-8:00 pm at LaPaloma Funeral Home, 5450 Stephanie Street, Henderson, Nevada.  He will be laid to rest with his loving wife Yvonne on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 12:30 pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, located at 1900 Buchanan Boulevard, Boulder City, Nevada.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to A Home 4 Spot. www.ahome4spot.com
