Donald Jenkins
October 12, 1934 – June 22, 2023
Don Jenkins passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on June 22, 2023 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. Don was 88 and proud to be approaching 90. He was mentally strong — he loved crossword puzzles and playing trivia games with his youngest daughter, but his mobility issues keeping him from some of the activities he loved most: attending Nascar races, restoring classic cars and spending time with friends.
Don was born October 12, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA to Jack and Bertha Jenkins (deceased). He attended Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles where he enjoyed playing varsity football and spending time with his many friends, graduating in 1953.
It was at MAHS where he met Jean Gracy (Jenkins, Prince – D: 2011), whom he married in Mexico in 1956 and who became the mother of his three daughters Carie Sue (Boyce), Christie Lyn (Clifford – D:2022) and Holly Rae Jenkins. They were married 25 years, divorcing in 1981
Don moved from Hawthorne, CA to Reno in 1977 and started Quik Catering. He spent his working life in the catering business along with automobile customization, buying and selling, active in the latter businesses up until the time of his death.
In 2004, Don married Cindi Miller and took on a meaningful role in helping to raise her three children, Ali, Cassie and Tyler. Don and Cindy enjoyed time at home, playing pool and going out to dinner. They divorced in 2017.
Dad is survived by his former wife, Cindi and his two living daughters, Carie (Jenkins) Boyce of Manhattan Beach, CA and Holly Jenkins of Reno, NV. Holly and Don had a close relationship and she cared for him in the evening years of his life. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephanie Clifford of Richland, WA, step-grandaughter Jade (Boyce) Wolfe of Oxnard, CA and grandsons Wyatt Boyce and Garrett Boyce of Manhattan Beah, CA.
No memorial services will be held for Don per his wishes, but condolences and memories may be posted here or mailed to the family c/o La Paloma Funeral Home in Reno, NV.
