Elaine Jean Rose

Elaine Jean Rose passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2021. The fifth of six daughters, she was born on July 25, 1933 in Norwich, Connecticut, to proud Italian parents, Rafael and Clara Gemino. Elaine’s rich Italian heritage was special for her, and she often shared vivid experiences and stories about her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and her five sisters, Edna, Dorothy, Dolly, Ruth, and Shirley.

Two events would change Elaine’s life forever. The first was meeting missionaries from and eventually joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The second, which occurred shortly after, was meeting the love of her life, a young Navy sailor named Larry Rose. Larry had recently visited Elaine’s new church for the first time, and there is no doubt that the beautiful Italian woman that caught his eye certainly peaked his interest in learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Elaine and Larry were married on October 17, 1964. They are the proud parents of six children: Tom (Mi Young), Mark (Tammy), David, Lynda (Rodney), Chris (Cami) and Paul, and have 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Although Elaine was blessed with many talents and abilities, by far her greatest gifts are her unrelenting faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, her deep devotion to her husband and family, and her love for and service to others. Her example and devotion to faith and family will be missed, but her family knows this separation is only temporary. Elaine’s services will be on Saturday, October 23 with a viewing at 9am and the funeral to follow at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 375 N. Hollywood Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89110 (corner of Hollywood Blvd. & Stewart Ave.).
