Elizabeth “Betty” C. Walters
Elizabeth “Betty” C. Walters passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, just over two weeks after her 91st birthday. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 10, 1921 she lived in many states after she was married in 1944 to Russell Walters. Living in California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky, and for the last 25 years in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada, Betty always enjoyed new places and new people. She also found joy in working because she took pleasure in helping others. For over 48 years Betty delighted her customers by showing them how to apply cosmetics and make the best of their features. Another “Elizabeth,” Elizabeth Arden, Inc. was where Betty excelled for over 30 years. Many of her customers country-wide and even world-wide would make a point of visiting her whenever they came to Las Vegas. Some of those customers and also her co-workers became lifelong friends. Shortly before her retirement at the age of 82, the Vice President of Elizabeth Arden, Inc. honored Betty in 2002 for being their oldest working employee in the country. Missing the excitement of meeting new people and hearing their stories, on her 91st birthday, Betty lamented and wished she could still be working. Now we will miss her stories and enthusiasm for life, laughter and fun no matter the situation we may be in.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Walters and Rhonda Polsfut; son-in-law, Dennis Polsfut; her grandsons whom she loved and was so proud of, James and Jeron Plotnik; and her nieces, nephews and their families. Everyone who has known Betty will always keep a treasured piece of Betty’s Irish wit and humor tucked in their heart. Following cremation, Betty’s family and dear friends are planning a celebration of her life to be held in Henderson early fall. “Up, up and away” dear Betty “Boop,” you will always remain in our hearts.
