Elizabeth Marie Johnson
“Grandma Betty”
6/17/1929 – 5/01/2015
Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Johnson passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on the evening of May 1, 2015 at the age of 85 years.
Born in Tewksbury, Massachusetts to Clarence and Marjorie Compton, she was the second of seven children. Elizabeth leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love to her husband, Frank Lanni and to her children, Vince and (Kathy) Fucillo of Atwater, California, Nancy and (Steven) Brown of Sparks, Nevada, Jim and (Gloria) Fucillo of Monterey, California, Kim Johnson of Reno, Nevada and Paula Wack of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Elizabeth was a special Grammie to 11 grandchildren and 11 great children, and loved and survived by her sisters, Ann Posluszny of Massachusetts and Dawn Libby of Rhode Island.
Elizabeth raised her children and called the community of Atwater, California her home for over 35 years. Until her retirement, she was a bookkeeper at Passadori’s. She will be fondly remembered for her Christmas Cookies, competitive card playing skills and her love of dancing.
In 2000, Elizabeth relocated to Reno, Nevada and it is there that she met and married Frank Lanni, her dance partner for the remainder of her life. Never one to sit still, “Grandma Betty” along with her husband “Grandpa Frank” volunteered with the Foster Grandparents program in Reno for several years. They spent their time in classrooms tutoring children and sharing stories. They were especially loved at the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center, where they generously gave the gift of a lasting positive impression on many teenagers in need of guidance.
No services are scheduled. Her ashes will be scattered privately by her children.
