Q: How does a funeral home work with a coroner?
A: The coroner contacts the funeral home after the family has designated the funeral home of choice. Coroners only attend to deaths that are classified as un-planned, including homicides, suicides or suspicious deaths.
Q: Is cremation a substitute for a funeral?
A: Funerals are held every day for individuals that choose cremation.
Q: What can be done with cremated remains?
A: Cremated remains can be scattered on private property, stored, buried or encrypted. For those who want to scatter ashes, but who don’t have either the means or location preference, the photos below are of private property located in Southern Utah that has been made available to La Paloma Funeral Services for scattering purposes.



Q: What does an average funeral cost?
A: A traditional funeral costs approximately $4,500 at La Paloma Funeral Services.
Q: What should I do if a death occurs at home?
A: If your loved one is under hospice care, contact the hospice provider. If they are not, call 911.
Q: If a loved one dies out of state, can La Paloma still help?
A: Yes. La Paloma can contact the coroner’s office or the out-of-state funeral home on your behalf.
Q: What is the process for shipping remains out-of-state or internationally?
A: The process is similar to any case, but the remains are put on a plane or driven to the preferred location. Internationally, La Paloma will work with the designated country’s consulate to acquire necessary permissions.
Q: Where do I start? What is the first step in making arrangements on the behalf of someone else?
A: Call Us! Staff will schedule an appointment for you to come to the funeral home, and they will walk you through the process of selecting any type of services your family desires.

Q: Where do I start when pre-planning for myself?
A: Call or stop in one of the La Paloma locations and staff will help you choose your final disposition with either cremation or funeral plans.
Q: Can funeral services be held outside of the funeral home location?
A: Yes. Your funeral can be held at a location of your choice.
Q: Am I able to make changes to pre-arranged packages?
A: You may make changes to your pre-arranged packages. Additional charge may be acquired; however, our professional staff will help accommodate you with your desires.
Q: Does La Paloma Funeral Services provide professional counseling services for the family of the loved ones?
A: La Paloma provides a list of licensed professionals that can assist the family with counseling services in their time of need.
Q: I want to provide a container for cremated remains to be placed in. What are the requirements for the container?
A: La Paloma Funeral Services will accept family provided containers for cremated remains. The container must have a volume capacity of 200 cubic inches to accommodate the remains and must constructed of a permanent, durable material that will not break in any manner if dropped, bumped or jostled when being transferred. Also, it must be waterproof, heat resistant and have a lid to protect the remains.
