Frank Albert Mauriello, Jr. Obituary (1950 - 2024)

Frank Albert Mauriello, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on September 15th in Henderson, Nevada. Frank was born on February 12, 1950 in the Bronx, New York to Frank, Sr. and Anne Mauriello. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1955 where he started kindergarten at Crestwood Elementary School and also attended John F. Miller and K.O. Knudsen. After graduating from Valley High School in 1968, he attended UNLV until he began a career as a talented dealer at Caesar’s Palace and later, the Bellagio, venturing into entrepreneurial opportunities, including co-founder of Nevada Linen Supply. To Frank, family was everything. After three weeks of dating, Frank married the love of his life, Jill Schofield, and they raised four amazing children. His focus never left his family as he was actively involved in all of their lives, attending every single event or opportunity to witness and support them. He shared his love of sports with his children as he encouraged them to play while he often coached them, positively influencing the lives of other children and their families in the community as well. Frank established traditions in his family that included annual trips to Santa Barbara for over the past 40 years where they spent time on the beach, hung out in the pool, and ate at their favorite places. Family time was cherished and prioritized over all else. This commitment extended to his grandchildren where he was always in attendance for their activities, cheering them on. Frank’s loving reach stretched beyond his immediate family to extended family, his friends, the friends of his children and grandchildren who passed in and out of their houses, people he worked with, and anyone fortunate enough to spend any length of time in his presence. Frank was a legend among his family and friends. His love of people, coupled with his quick-witted sense of humor, lit up any room he occupied. The impression he left on others was always for good. He was everyone’s brother, everyone’s dad, everyone’s grandpa, everyone’s uncle, and everyone’s best friend. He was also everyone’s biggest fan. What we will miss the most are his exaggerated and animated stories, his practical jokes, his making us laugh until we cried or our cheeks hurt or we peed our pants. We’ll miss his motivational talks, his text messages in all caps, his unique dance moves, his detailed discussions of his phantom grandchildren, Eddie and Sally, and watching him love our mom for over 50 years. We’ll miss eating with him at Los Tacos and getting ice cream at LuvIts, making chocolate chip cookies, hanging out in the pool, going to movies, attending UNLV Rebel games, taking trips, his bags of Tootsie Rolls and Hershey Kisses, and his toothpicks. His talents included perfectly cut fruit, remembering who scored the winning run in the 1975 World Series and his batting average that year, winning (and gloating) at card games, slipping money (big bills or small) in the palms of people’s hands, keeping up with the grandkids’ TV shows, being spontaneous, making people laugh even in sad times, and remembering people’s names. We will forever love the Lone Wolf, New Dad, New Grandpa, Frankie Vegas, Pops, the G.O.A.T., Frank the Tank, and “Frank, honey.” We will never laugh the same again. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank is survived by his wife Jill, his sister, Joyce Weisdorf (Kenny), daughter Carrie (William), son Gino (Korrie), daughter Sadie, son Jeremy (Tammy), along with his 13 grandchildren, Claire (Caleb), Julian, Phoebe, Mila (Josh), Jacob, Luca, Dylan, Frankie, Angelo, Sydney, Olive, Jaden, and Taylor, as well as many nieces and nephews he would call his own. Viewing and visitation will be at 10am with services to follow at 11am Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Carnegie LDS Stake Center, 2197 Cozy Hill Circle, Henderson, NV 89052.
