James Lynn, 76, passed away on February 17, 2023 in Reno, Nevada. A service will be held for family and friends at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on March 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.
Jim grew up in Detroit, Michigan and surrounding suburbs with his parents and two sisters. Jim’s amazing sense of humor and his love of cars began when he was a child. He always spread joy to family and friends with his quick wit. His interest in cars started when he began identifying car types when still a toddler as he rode in his parents’ car.
Jim also loved art and this interest lasted a lifetime. His natural talent was shared by his third-grade teacher to his mom as his drawings had already become three-dimensional. This talent influenced Jim to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from California State University Northridge in the 1970s.
Jim’s work career always depicted his determination which began while working for Dodge Truck after graduating from high school and attending college part-time. While working and attending school, Jim was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Jim served as Sergeant in the Military Police.
After his military service, Jim made his home in California where he spent time in design and remodeling work. From building homes in Malibu to working lighting/stage design in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada, he perfected his trade.
Jim enjoyed building model cars and participated in car shows where he received many awards. He volunteered his time at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada.
Jim will be remembered for his wit, artistry, kindness, and genuineness.
Jim was predeceased in death by his father, Harry. He will be dearly missed by his mom, Anne, his sister Barbara Morgan (Brian), his sister Kathy Leahy (Jay), 2 nephews, 2 nieces, 3 great-nephews, and 1 great-niece, and many dear friends.
