Jean Bernhardt
Jean Bernhardt, 97, passed away Wednesday morning at home with her family. Jean, born 6-19-24 as the youngest twin to June Olson was born in Ellsworth, WI. Jean was preceded by her parents Clara and John Roper, her husband William “Bill” Bernhardt, her daughter Mary Ellen, and her great great granddaughter Gwen.
Jean was affectionately known as Gramma Jean, Nana, and Mom by her daughter, many grandchildren as well as anyone who crossed her path.
Jean never met a stranger, was an avid baker, which she used to grow the many amount of friends and adoptive family members Jean came across. Jean lived for many years in Sunnyvale, CA before moving to Las Vegas in 2005. Jean was an enthusiastic bowler with a 168 average, enjoyed bowling on leagues throughout the years and was a part of teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to enjoy her favorite past time.
Jean was proceeded in death by her sisters Edna Zillgitt and Dorthoy Nelson and her brother Lester Roper.
Jean is survived by her loving Daughter Sharon Gunter, Sister June Olson, her Grandchildren Robert “Bob” Gunter, Michelle Galvin, Annette Carillo, Al Gunter and adopted Grandchildren through marriage David Galvin and Richard Carillo; Great Grandchildren, Amanda, Heather, Josh, Elaine, Amber, Doug, and Starr; Great Great Grandchildren, Giovanni, Emerson, Makera, Meadow, Savannah, Jackson, Charlotte, Eleanor and Teddy.
The family will be scheduling a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
