JoAnn Stewart - PhotoOur beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, JoAnn passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016.

JoAnn was born in September of 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eldest child of George Q and Lucille H Spencer. She was raised in Spring Lake, Utah. In her early years she attended school in Spring Lake. Her junior high and high school days were spent in Payson. She attended college at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

She married her high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Boyd R Stewart, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1948, and they moved to Sparks, Nevada, where they made their home for over 67 years. Boyd passed away in December of 2015.

JoAnn’s greatest joy was her family. She was a kind and generous lady. She enjoyed music, the canyon home in Utah, watching a good sports game and spending time with her family and good friends. She was a dedicated wife and mother. JoAnn loved Boyd and truly found joy in being with him.

JoAnn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed serving with the Young Women and ladies of the Relief Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband and sister. She is survived by her 2 brothers: George S [Janice] Spencer and Daniel H [Vera] Spencer, brother-in-law Dwight Wood, and her 3 children: David [Jeanne] Stewart, Carol [David] Sanchez, and Doug [LaNell] Stewart. She is also survived by Dale [Linda] Sanderson, who was considered a third son, along with 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, a private burial will be held. There will be a memorial service in her honor at a future date.
