Joseph Anthony Franco

It’s with profound sadness that the family of Joseph (Pepito) A. Franco announce his passing at the age of 68. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and a dear friend to many. Joseph was Born in Havana, Cuba. His family migrated to Queens, New York in 1962 where he resided with his family.

In 1973, Joseph met Geny Franco through mutual friends & family members. They fell in love almost instantly. He traveled to Connecticut frequently until they decided to get married in 1980 where he relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut. Geny & Joseph Franco have been married for 42 years and had two sons, Joseph Franco III & Neil Franco.

Joseph retired from Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) in New York City as a Supervisor in the Power Department. After his retirement, he relocated to Henderson, Nevada in June of 2019.

He was a force of nature, genuine and had the biggest heart anyone could ask for. He commanded a presence anytime he walked into a room. Many would say he was always serious, yet he had the biggest sense of humor. He was always someone you can rely on as he would give the shirt off his back to anyone that truly needed it. His family and close friends meant more to him than anything else in the world; putting his own goals and wants aside as he was determined to provide and give them the life, he felt they deserved.

He had many hobbies, but his true passion was his Ham Radios, Fishing in the open sea, & Cigars. He was so passionate with amateur radio that he would build his own equipment and was a Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC). If he wasn’t tinkering in his radio room, you can find him in the backyard smoking a stogie, or out in the open sea.

Anyone who knew him would say he was the most loving, nicest, yet scariest man they have ever met. He lived a life that many dream of. He did everything & anything he ever wanted. His memories and the stories will last a lifetime.

Joseph was predeceased by his mother, Angela Checa Franco, his father Jose Franco, and his son Neil Franco. He is survived by his wife, Geny Franco of Henderson, Nevada, his son Joseph Franco (Mayra Franco) of Henderson, Nevada, his 4 grandchildren Nicolle Saldana of Denver, Colorado, Brianna Jade Franco of Fairfield, Connecticut, Joseph Franco IV and Audreena Nielle Franco of Henderson, Nevada and sister Magalys De La Pena (Edmundo De La Pena) of Hialeah, Florida.
