Judith (Judy) Ann Crippen
Judith (Judy) Ann Crippen, age 73, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Her funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at La Paloma Chapel, 437 Stoker Ave. Judy was born October 10, 1945 to Claire Ann Dutcher and Vincent J. Skinner in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. At the age of 7, she relocated to Reno, Nevada with her beloved mother; step-father, Howard Cornelius Hammill; and sister, Karen Mabry. She was a graduate of Reno High School and the University of Nevada, Reno where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1980, and began work on a Master of Arts in Counseling and Personnel Services in 1982. In 1985, Judy married Jack H. Crippen, the love of her life, best friend, and inseparable companion.
Throughout her life, Judy was best-known to those who loved and admired her as a compassionate and untiring advocate of social justice and equality, who was always ready with a smile or word of encouragement. From the professional positions she held, such as that of Social Services Coordinator for the Elko County Senior Citizens Center, to her extensive volunteer work in the service of others, Judy labored relentlessly to improve the lives of her family, friends, and overall community. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that is both an inspiration and source of pride. She will be greatly missed by her surviving spouse; her three sons, Christian Peek, Kevin Peek, and Casey Peek; her mother and sister; her friends; foster children; and the countless lives that she touched along the away.
