Douglas Lamont Monson passed away suddenly into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday January 19, 2019. He was born on November 4, 1970 to James & Patricia Monson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Doug graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1989. He served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Houston, Texas area. Following his mission he attended the University of Utah where he received his bachelors degree in history. He pursued a law degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, graduating with his Juris Doctor degree in 2001. During his schooling he met and married the love of his life, Carol Lingwall, on May 22, 1993. Together they had 4 beautiful children: Nathan, Kristen, Samantha & Jack. He loved his family more than anything and was so proud of them. Doug was a kind and gentle soul. As an Eagle Scout he was a friend to everyone, always the first to volunteer and willing to help out anyone. He was smart and witty and loved to laugh. His passions in life included cooking, camping, biking & hiking. He was a huge movie and music buff. In high school he was a member of The Better Way where he played the bass guitar. Doug faced many challenges in his life but he never lost faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom he now rests.
Doug is survived by his wife, Carol, their 4 children and his beloved dog Napoleon. His mother Patricia McLeod Monson, siblings Micheal (Stephanie), Robert, Jason (Cammie) along with lots of nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James Osborne Monson.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 6051 Dorrell Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89131. Friday, January 25, 2019 will be a viewing from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Saturday, January 26 will be a viewing from 2:00 – 3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 3:15.
