Louise Abersold Merrill

Louise Abersold Merrill of Las Vegas passed away March 27, 2017. She was born October 12, 1943 in Berkeley, CA to John and Ruth Abersold. She married Kenneth Merrill in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on July 15, 1963. Louise attended Brigham Young University and graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education. She worked as a literacy expert in primary education. Louise volunteered extensively for her church and was known in the community for her compassion and service. Her love for beauty in nature was expressed with music, flowers, fiber and cloth. The many quilts she crafted provided comfort to the sick and unfortunate. She was truly an angel of mercy!

She is survived by her husband Ken, daughters Tamara and Diane, sons Kenn, John, Adam and Matthew, as well as 24 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her love, service and devotion will be tremendously missed. She will be forever loved by all who knew her.

Services will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel (Whitney Ranch) at 1551 W. Galleria Dr, Henderson, NV, followed by a private burial service at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City. The viewing will take place from 10:00 – 10:45 am. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am.

  • I will miss my Las Vegas Mom! She was always there when I needed her! She was my rock! She was the most giving, kind, thoughtful, and loving person I know! She was truly an angel on earth! She will be missed! Heaven is lucky to have her and we were lucky to have her as long as we did!
