On January 26, 2020 Muriel received her wings and ended her suffering from a long battle with the terrible disease Dementia.
The last several years have been very difficult for Muriel and her family. Muriel was diagnosed back in November of 2015 with Dementia and a short time later with stage 4 chronic kidney disease. A while after the diagnosis her only son quit his job to take care of her and become her full time caregiver. From then she slowly started declining with the issues becoming more pronounced, her memory, day to day activity’s and all other daily functions.(eating, bathing, dressing, and etc.) then in April of 2019 the disease was becoming more pronounced where she even fell and broke her hip. She had surgery and then was placed in a rehabilitation facility for physical therapy and within a few days contracted C-Diff Colitis. Unfortunately the infection took its toll on her physically, and mentally, and with Dementia, made things even worse.
Muriel has been in home hospice care almost leaving the rehabilitation facility. And within the week of Thanksgiving she started rapidly declining. Only now being able to take down a few bites ever so often to even only being able to get water through a syringe for hydration (without having the strength to chew or drink through a straw.) Muriel has always been s survivor. Raised in a catholic convent at a very young age (her mother was stricken with tuberculosis) she ran away in her early teens and started working as a housekeeper basically till she was 69 years old. Only married once to a WW2 vet and is survived by her only loving son. Muriel has been through hell and back. Dementia, chronic kidney disease, broken hip and C-Diff colitis, she passed everyone’s expectations but even with her strong will and spirituality, God had decided to ease her suffering.
We ask for prayers for her and her family.
She will be greatly missed!
