Cathie Rhames

–

North Las Vegas, Nevada

Ida Cathie Rhames, known as Cathie to all who cherished her, was a brilliant light that shone brightly in the lives of many. Born on October 19, 1947, in Bloomington, IL, Cathie lived a life that was truly a testament to her strength, courage, and indomitable spirit. She was a courageous soul who lived life on her terms, never letting challenges deter her spirit. Despite living with ALS for over two years, Cathie remained resilient and positive, her spirit remaining untouched by the adversity she faced. Her strength in the face of challenges was a testament to her faith, recalling the Biblical verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Her courageous heart will be deeply missed.

Cathie was a successful businesswoman, owning Sunshine Health Products, a dental and cosmetic business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was actively involved in the community, serving at the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. She sold her business and retired to North Las Vegas, Nevada in 2021. Cathie's passion and dedication were not only evident in her professional life but also in her personal interests, as she was an enthusiastic golfer and a loyal friend. Cathie was a beacon of hope, resilience, and love.

Above all, Cathie was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her sons, Richard and Carl Rhames, her brothers, Walter and Christopher Rider, and her sister, Kimberly Epstein, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Cathie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Rider and Eleanor Tavenner, her ex-husband, Carl Sr, and her sister, Stephanie Heilig. What mattered most to Cathie was the happiness of her children, and her legacy of love, courage, and generosity will continue to live on through them.

We invite you to celebrate and remember Cathie's extraordinary life by leaving your memories and uploading photos to her memorial page. As we all share in the stories that defined Cathie's life, we can take comfort and find joy in the beautiful life she lived.
