James Mcclinton Rhone Jr “Jim, Jimmy, And J.R.” Obituary (1952

On Friday, August 24th 2012, TSgt. James McClinton Rhone Jr. passed away due to natural causes in his Las Vegas home. He was well known by friends and family as “Jim, Jimmy, or J.R.” TSgt James McClinton Rhone Jr. was born on Sept 29, 1952, to the late Ida Bell Rhone and James McClinton Rhone Sr. in Philadelphia PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. TSgt. James Rhone Jr., was a decorated retiree of the United States Air Force. During his service to our country, he served at the american Airforce base in Turkey, Warrensburg Missouri, and Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV. James was the father of two beautiful daughters, Ida Marie Collins of Las Vegas and Katherine Rhone Perry of San Antonio Texas. He left to remember him, four loving grandchildren Amber Chanel Collins, and Kalvin Lamar Miller Jr. of Las Vegas and Jasmyne and Stefan Perry of San Antonio, TX, as well as his only son in law, Preston Perry also of San Antonio, TX. James, is survived by his father, retired Chief James McClinton Rhone Sr. of San Antonio Texas,and his wife retired Lt. Col.Judy Rhone. James has five siblings: Acquanetta Rhone Smith of Philadelphia, SSgt. Joy Rhone Glynn, and her husband retired SMSgt. Jerry Glynn of Palmer Alaska, Lt. Col. Jon Rhone and his wife TSgt Tisha Rhone of Niceville, FL , Major Jamie Rhone and his wife Captain Ryaja Rhone of Virginia, Darren LaShawn Taylor Rhone of Chicago, IL. and a host great aunts, great uncles, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Katherine Thomas of Philadelphia, PA. and is survived by his former wife Patricia Rhone Tompkins of Missouri. James was affectionately known in the billiard circuit as “J.R.” He won many tournaments and competitions, including the World Pool Championship. James was a long time employee of Royal Distributing of Las Vegas, and assisted in the development and expansion of the Las Vegas Lounge Entertainment Magazine, formerly known as the “Karaoke Corner”. James also served as Loss Prevention Coordinator for several large retail stores in the Las Vegas area. J.R. was known and loved throughout the Las Vegas entertainment, marketing, and advertising industry. He always had a smile and a pleasant conversation for those he would meet. The funeral services for TSgt James McClinton Rhone Jr. will be held on Saturday September 1, 2012 in Philadelphia, PA at The Church Of The Redeemer Baptist 1440 South Twenty-Fourth St. Philadelphia, PA 19146 Phone: 215.465.1230 Fax: 215.465.5130 Funeral services will be held from Noon til 1pm and the repass will be held from 1pm-4pm
