Jo Ann Costanzo, was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her. Born in Washington, D.C. on May 15, 1952, Jo was a smart, loving, supportive, and dedicated woman who embraced life with an unyielding passion. She had an innate ability to make her loved ones feel cherished and comforted, always prioritizing her family above all else. Jo's love for animals was a defining aspect of her life, one that she championed with fervor and dedication. She had a particular fondness for horseback riding, often spending her free time enjoying the tranquility of nature accompanied by her cherished pets.
Jo's life was a testament to her tenacity and spirit. She began her family in Sonora, California, where she raised farm animals, was an active 4-H leader and worked as an animal control officer. There, her love for animals was not only a personal passion but a professional commitment. Jo's move to Reno, Nevada, in 1994 marked a new chapter in her life, yet her dedication to her family and love for animals remained steadfast. Jo's adventurous spirit was evident in her membership in a motorcycle club that founded the 911 motorcycle run and she was proud to ride her own Harley. She continued working with animals and rescuing horses throughout her life. Even volunteering and riding with the Douglass county sheriff posse.
Jo will be lovingly remembered by her children, Noel Lane, Angie Smith, Christina Costanzo, Brian Costanzo, and Nick Costanzo, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her unique blend of kindness, love, and courage will continue to inspire them and will forever resonate in their hearts.
Jo was predeceased by her brother Jerry Harell and her parents, Ira and Elizabeth Fraley, who instilled in her the values of love and resilience that she carried throughout her lifetime.
