John Albert Moudy was born on October 12, 1956 in Casper, WY to parents Arthur Eldon and Mary Casey Moudy and was the oldest brother to Joe, Anna Marie, Andy, Aggie and Kerry. He passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2026.
John spent his earliest years in Casper and Worland, Wyoming, before moving to Riverton in 1964. After graduating from Riverton High School in 1975, John began his career at Pacific Power and Light Company in Casper, Wyoming. He built a long and meaningful professional life with PacifiCorp in Wyoming and Oregon, advancing through roles that reflected his dedication, curiosity, and dependability. He retired from PacifiCorp in 2022 after 43 years of dedicated service before moving to Las Vegas. While retirement was not in John’s mindset, he was quickly asked to return to work and continued consulting until the time of his death. Those that worked with John knew his strong work ethic and perfectionism in everything he did. Beyond his work, John brought energy, humor, and heart to the people and pastimes he loved. He loved a good cigar along with his favorite whiskey while cheering on his Denver Broncos, and most importantly spending time with family and friends. All who knew him will always remember his warmth, his easy laugh, and the steady love he gave as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all, John was devoted to his family.
He married the love of his life, Nance (Larson) Moudy on October 12, 1979, who survives him. Together they built a life centered on loyalty, love, and memorable gatherings. He loved deeply and was deeply loved by their two sons, Christopher James Moudy and Ryan Jon (Callie) Moudy, and by his grandchildren, Lillie McKenna, Isabella Rose, Eric Ryan, and Alek Caleb. John is proceeded in death by his parents, Arthur Eldon and Mary Casey Moudy, and his sister, Anna Marie Moudy. His father-in-law James Larson, brother-in-law Harl Worth and his niece Chelsie Worth. He is survived by his brothers, Joe (Stephanie) Moudy and Andy Moudy (Nancy Bronstein), and his sisters, Aggie Worth (Steve Juhl) and Kerry (Robert) Raines, mother-in-law Linda Brosious Larson, brother-in-law Mitch (Kim) Larson, sister-in-law Natalie (Mike) Pigg and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know him.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 3505 S. Town Center Drive in Las Vegas, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 13th. Donations in John’ s name may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
