Celebrating the Life of

Martin ‘Marty’ L. Cardella

In most loving memory of Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and beloved friend, “The Mole” Martin “Marty’ Lloyd Cardella/Grandpa Marty was born on April 21, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada at age 64. He is predeceased by his parents Philip Eugene Cardella and Dorothy Marie Buckner Cardella, his sister Anna Cardella and his brother Dante Raymond Cardella. He is survived by his daughters Christiana Vining and Monica Cardella Underwood, Son-in-Law John Underwood & Granddaughter Kaya Underwood, his brothers Gary Derosz, Jimmy Cardella, and Philip Cardella, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marty was fourth of 6 children and to his friends and family he was known as the ‘Life of the Party’ because of his witty sense, intelligence and great cooking.  Because he nearly destroyed everyone in the room at ‘Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune’ by answering correctly almost all of the time, some would jokingly call him Marty Trebek! He also thoroughly enjoyed Judge Judy and the judgments   she handed down!

In his life, Marty made so many friends and was loved by everyone he met. Marty took great pride in his large Italian ‘la famiglia’ (Family) that so enriched his life. Family was everything to Marty that he spent his time being a full-time caregiver to his older brother Jim Cardella. He selflessly cared for Jimmy until the day he passed away.

In 1979, he drove out and went with his cousin and best friend Ron Florio. They drove his Aunt Jean’s trailer to the Las Vegas valley together. Marty spent the early 80’s in Orange County, and with his cousins Louie and Ralph Florio in San Clemente. He met and married Adelaide Vining in 1986 and lovingly raised her 2 year old Christiana Vining as his very own. In 1987, his ‘Chubs’ Monica A. Cardella was born in Las Vegas and now he was a father to two beautiful daughters. Being a father brought Marty so much pride and joy doting over the two. Nothing was more important than for him to provide a stable and loving foundation for his daughters. He saw his daughters through school and into adult hood and continued to extend his help to them whenever needed. Then his granddaughter Kaya Underwood was born in 2007 and Marty knew he had to get back to Vegas to be close to her. Being Grandpa Marty was certainly a new role he lovingly accepted and it meant the world to him. His life as grandpa brought him to school activities, birthday celebrations, graduations, holidays and soccer games. In fact, his time at Kaya’s soccer games was his favorite place to be and on May 15, 2021 Marty joined the Underwood family on a beautiful, sunny and cool day to watch Kaya play at the Horizon Crest Park. Marty saw Kaya’s team the Silver Bullets get  another big win and the team remained undefeated! Grandma Ginger sitting next to Grandpa Marty said, “Give me a high five Marty, we won!”  Grandpa Marty gave everyone the biggest smile from ear to ear and smacked Grandma Ginger’s hand in a high 5 motion and everyone laughed and cheered. Grandpa Marty shared the joy of grand parenting with Grandma Ginger. May you be comforted knowing that Marty spent his last day in much happiness by coming out to support his beloved granddaughter on the soccer field and spending time with family. Thanking God for this blessed opportunity to be with Marty one last time.

Last Respects for Marty will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the La Paloma Funeral Home located at 5450 Stephanie St. Las Vegas, NV. 89122.  For more information, call Monica Cardella Underwood at 702-980-7778 or email jmkallday878407@gmail.com

“I WAIT ON THE LORD, MY WHOLE BEING WAITS, AND IN HIS WORD I PUT MY HOPE.” PSALM 130:5

MOURNING PRAYER: LORD JESUS, WE WORSHIP YOU AS THE ALMIGHTY GOD AND AS THE MAN OF SORROWS WHO WAS AQUAINTED WITH GRIEF. THANK YOU FOR THE MERCY YOU HOLD OUT TO US IN OUR PAIN. AMEN.

“HE WILL WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES, AND DEATH SHALL BE NO MORE, NEITHER SHALL THERE BE MOURNING, NOR CRYING, NOR PAIN ANYMORE, FOR THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY.” REVELATION 21:4

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.

WHEN YOU REMEMBER MARTY!

When you remember Marty, a gentle smile will appear.

A kind and fun-loving man he was, one you could never fear.

When you remember Marty, remember that he cared.

Need help? He’ll come. So soon and He’s there!

When you remember Marty, gosh he sure can cook.

His penne pasta, his favorite brisket, no need for a recipe book!

When you remember Marty, back come the good ole days,

His many smiles and laughter are as warm as sunshine rays.

When you remember Marty, he loved his family.

No matter what, through thick and thin, he did it happily!

When you remember Marty, say a prayer for his granddaughter & daughters

They will miss his loving ways that streamed like gentle waters.

When you remember Marty, he’d rush to greet his friends first

The friendship that he gave them was such that it almost burst!

When you remember Marty, remember that he’s not gone!

He went to sleep just for a while and so it won’t be long,

When you remember Marty, Jesus soon will come again.

He’ll call out Marty, raise him up, and that’s an AMEN!
