Khai Xiong Obituary (1980 - 2020)

Khai Xiong passed away after a courageous battle with COVID-19 on May 15, 2020, in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 39. Khai was born on November 14, 1980 in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Stockton, CA as a baby, and remained there throughout his childhood. Khai attended Sacramento State University, where he studied Theatre & Art. Khai began working for Cricket Wireless in 2008 and was an Assistant Manager at the time of his passing. Khai met his sweetheart, Jody Smith, in 2004. The two created their life together in Las Vegas, Nevada. Khai and Jody loved date nights together, especially going to shows, concerts, and couple only vacations. Khai and Jody welcomed two daughters, Loralei and Kaydence, into their home. Khai had a deep love for his girls. He loved taking them on Daddy/Daughter dates, which usually was going to the arcade and winning them every stuffed animal possible. Khai’s girls will remember him as a fun-loving father who showed them how to enjoy life to its fullest. Khai would often spend time teaching the girls how to win at games, working with them on school work, and letting them paint his toenails. The girls spent most days listening to Dad Jokes, good music, and playing around with Daddy. Khai was a dedicated sports fan. He loved watching the UFC and was a devoted Denver Broncos fan. He also had a niche for video games and electronics. His biggest joy in life was being with his girls. Whether it was playing games, bowling, or taking a family vacations, he was always happy to be with his family. He loved the beach and amusement parks, especially Legoland and Disneyland. Khai is survived by the love of his life, Jody Smith, and their two daughters, Loralei Christine Smith-Xiong and Kaydence Arielle Smith-Xiong. And by his mother, Zay Laos, of Stockton, CA, sisters; Sandy of Stockton, CA, Jocy of Stockton, CA, Se of Sacramento, CA, and Nancy of Stockton, CA, and brothers; Nu of Stockton, CA, Leng (Angie) of Sacramento, CA, and Tsa of Stockton, CA. He is also survived by his loving in-laws, Pamela Smith and Chris Kight, and sister-in-law Jasmine Hoke. He is preceded in death by his brother, Va Xiong. A viewing will be held Saturday, May 23rd, from 4 – 5 PM with a funeral service following from 5 – 7 PM, at La Paloma Chapel at 5450 Stephanie Street, Las Vegas, NV 89122. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all in attendance must wear a mask. The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend.
