Phillip R. Lewis

–

Las Vegas, NV

Phillip R. Lewis, passed away in his home on January 6th, 2021. He was 73 years of age.

Dressed in jeans, plaid shirt, a big ol’ belt buckle and a-mile-wide dimple to dimple grin,
Phil brought joy to everyone that knew him.
These attributes will be forever embedded in our hearts.
He was a humble, easy going “no drama” man with a caring heart. His generosity was
endless and he never asked anyone for anything. He was selfless and
always there to lend a helping hand. Friends and Family describe
him as having “something special about him that was hard to put into words”,
but could be felt with the heart.

He was a loyal friend and enjoyed many years of memories with his buddy Gerry.
There was always an open dinner invitation for anyone that knew him.
He will be forever missed by his daughter Carrie and friend Bonnie at Tuesday night dinners and by his sister Judy and brother in-law Russell at their breakfast meet ups!

Phil was a desert cowboy with a “playground” as his backyard. He had a love for
four wheeling, hunting and camping with family, leaving many of us with so many
wonderful memories. He was an honored member of the Las Vegas Jeep Club
and really enjoyed poker runs in “Plum Crazy” (his jeep), with Russell & Carrie in the back seat!
He had sense of exploration and was always ready to drive down a dirt road to see where he may end up.
His excitement for adventure lead to TWO helicopter experiences above the Grand Canyon with his daughter Carrie.

Phil was an avid gun and binocular collector and had an impressive camera collection!
He had an enjoyment of technology and always had the latest “as seen on TV” gadgets
His passion for dancing and love of Budweiser brought him to his
regular Thursday night outings with his cousin Johnny at Larry’s Hideaway.
Dressed in his best cowboy hat and boots, his impressive two-stepping
skills were in demand and he was always up to spin the ladies around
the dance floor! During the Covid lockdown he spent most his time watching every
single movie on Netflix and hanging with family and grand-dog Alice.

He was a veteran who served four years in the Airforce, working as an Aircraft Mechanic
and Crew Chief. Following the Airforce, his career took him to the Nevada Test Site
until his retirement in 2002 when he was able to spend all his time with his beloved wife Kathleen until her passing in December 2007.

Phillip R. Lewis, was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Byerwalter) Lewis; his son Russell Lewis;
his parents Al & Ruby “Laveeda” Lewis; brother Alton Lewis and his beloved furry best friends,
Peanut & Ralph. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Anne Lewis;
brothers Darrell & Perry Lewis; sister Judy Williams and first wife turned best friend, Bonnie Sandusky.

We know that he did not leave us … he just left before us.

He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts!
