Richard Peters

–

Reno, Nevada

Richard Henry Peters, known fondly by many as Peters, passed away on May 23, 2026. Richard was born in San Francisco, CA on May 11, 1942, and later made his home in San Jose, CA. A smart and dedicated man, Richard was a talented organic chemist, having spent much of his career at the Stanford Research Institute. His talent for solving problems and innovation resulted in multiple patents. In 2015, Richard and Sandra moved to Reno, Nevada.

Richard's adventurous was an avid sportsman, having been an All Star in both baseball and basketball at Lick Wilmerding High School in San Francisco. Later in life, his hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, water skiing, and many memorable fishing trips in Oregon and Alaska. Despite his achievements and interests, what mattered most to Richard was his family. His dedication to them was readily apparent.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra Peters; his daughter, Laura and her husband Don; his daughter, Christy and her husband Shan; his grandchildren, Jack, Brandon, and Tiffany; and his sister, Paula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Pauline Peters.

In Lutheran faith, Romans 8:28 reminds us, "And we know that all things work together for good…". As we remember Richard's life, we can find comfort in these words, recognizing that his life was filled with purpose and love, and that his legacy will continue to work together for good in the lives of those he touched. His favorite baseball cap reads “LIFE IS GOOD.”
