Ron Miller was a musician, a father, a man of faith, and a skilled computer technician over the course of his 76 years of life. Born in San Francisco on December 19, 1949, he and his family moved to Lake Tahoe during his adolescent years. There, he received commendations for his musical ability from teachers, got into lots of trouble, started a career as a guitarist playing the Tahoe music scene, and eventually met his wife and mother of his children, Colleen. The two of them found their faith in God together and raised their family in Gardnerville, NV.
Through all of the ups and downs of Ron’s life, he had his music. Far more talented than he ever let on, every musician who ever complimented him would get an answer like, “Oh, I’m not that good, I just follow along.” His children fondly remember waking up to the sound of him jamming to Cream, The Beatles, or The Eagles, often innovating on the work laid out by greats like King or Clapton.
In his later years, he brought the same humility to his work with computers. Starting with virtually no computer knowledge at all, over some years he came to know more about Windows and computer hardware than his son, who is an IT professional, but would still insist, “I don’t know nothin’, I just do what the experts tell me and hope for the best.”
There were only two things to which he was more dedicated: his faith, and his children. His eldest child, Victoria, predeceased him in 2008, but he is survived by his two younger children, Dallas and Evelyn, as well as Tory’s four daughters, Mariah, Lauren, Abigail, and Hailey.
Ron’s community was his church. He dedicated his life to his faith, which helped him to grow from a troublesome young man into a pillar of his local church community and an example to others and his children for how to live a proper life. If nothing else could be said of him, he was a perfect student (poor grades in high school notwithstanding), because he would learn everything he could, seek more, and ALSO share that knowledge, always in the pursuit of making himself and those around him better versions of themselves.
His talents, his generosity, his humor, and his eagerness to share will be missed. The memories of these things will never fade, and we encourage you to share your own memories with others, just as he would have done.
