Thurman Ray Watson Obituary (1936 - 2023)

Thurman Ray Watson of Henderson NV passed away at the age of 87 on October 3, 2023. He was born in Gilmer, Texas and after completing high school he entered North Texas State University where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education. He completed his Master’s Degree in School Administration at the University of New Mexico and earned an additional 32 hours in education at UNLV. He was a teacher with CCSD until his retirement from Martha P. King Elementary in 1996. He was nominated for CCSD Teacher of the Year in 1974. Ray loved fishing and camping and spent many summers in Yellowstone National Park enjoying those hobbies. He also enjoyed snow skiing. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emily, his daughter-in- law, Jessica and grandson and best friend Zane. A son, Jason Brian, preceded him in death in 2021. Services are private.
