Oscar “Bope” Lane, Jr.


July 10, 1942 — April 19, 2017

Oscar “Bope” Lane, Jr. went to Our Heavenly Father on April 19, 2017 at Harmony Hospice Care in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Being a Baptist, he was the youngest son of eight children born in Jacksonville, Florida. Uncle Bope precedes with his: Parents…Bessie and Oscar Lane, Sr. (Crystal River, FL), and sisters…Essie Mae Lane (Jacksonville, FL), Ewilla Lane (Jacksonville, FL), Catherine Lane Jackson (Waldorf, MD), Georgia Lane (Paramount, CA), and brother Willie Lee Lane(Jacksonville, FL).

In the 1960’s, Oscar “Bope” at the age of 18, moved to Compton, California to live with his sister Gussie “Candy.” He found his true passion for Cooking, at the age of 22, moving to Los Angeles, California; throughout his years he would visit his families to experience his Fine Cuisines experiences through his travelling’s. He made his final home in Pahrump, Nevada. There he shared his Professional Cooking passion, while serving it with: serenity, laughter and joy. He acquired many friends through entertaining guests while preparing his soulful spiritual love for his social fine cuisines.

Oscar, Jr. is survived by his two sisters…Gussie “Candy” Moore (oldest sister of Compton, CA) , Albert Lee Lane (middle brother of Jacksonville, FL), Carrie Woodrow (youngest sister of Crystal River, FL) and several villages of families, friends, adopted families, and close friends spreading from: California (Bellflower, Compton, El Centro, Gardena, Moreno Valley, Novato, Oxnard, Palms Spring, Riverside, Perris), Florida (Crystal River, Jacksonville), Georgia (Atlanta), Iowa (Des Monies), Maryland (Hampstead, Waldorf), Missouri (St. Louis), Nevada (Pahrump, Las Vegas), Texas (San Antonio, San Benito) and Junior Lane (his Chihuahua of Pahrump, NV).

I give Patience and Prayers to: Desert View Hospital (Pahrump, NV), Spanish Hills Wellness Suites (Las Vegas, NV), Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center (Las Vegas, NV) and Harmony Hospice (Las Vegas, NV). And Blessings and Thanks to: The Staff of Guardians–Liaison, Nurses, Assistants and all Helpers (day and night shift), Custodians, Doctors and Interns(day and night shift), Records Departments, Ambulance Services, Receptionists, Grief Counselor and La Paloma Funeral Services (Las Vegas, NV) for making our experience a comfortable one to bare.
