Peter Richard LaMouria
Peter Richard LaMouria, age 69, of Las Vegas NV, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Mountain View Hospital in Summerlin Nevada. He was born August 27th 1942 in Detroit Michigan to the late Joseph and Emma (Van Dorne) LaMouria. Peter was raised in Lake Orion Michigan along with his beloved sister Yvonne and late brother James (Eileen). Peter served in the Marine Corps from 1960-62 and was discharged under Honorable conditions. He pursued a career in the auto trade, becoming a licensed auto-body technician in 1970. He worked at the Public Service Garage in Marquette for four years. In 1974 he opened “M-28 Collision” in Munising, he would spend the next 21 years providing his service to the local community. In 1997 he suffered a stroke and spent the next eight years under the care of Tender Care nursing home of Munising, and Jacobetti, Home for Veterans of Marquette MI. In 2005 Peter was transferred to the Nevada State Veterans Home of Boulder City, after four years he would again move to The Manor nursing home in Summerlin, Las Vegas. Besides his interest in vehicle restoration, Peter loved the mountains and had a strong interest in prospecting. Adventures had taken him twice to Alaska and Canada’s Yukon territory, and then to the Superstition mountains of Arizona. For all the years he had spent in nursing homes he had a sincere appreciation for the people who had taken care of him. He will be dearly missed by the many that were close to him.
Peter is survived by his sister Yvonne (Thomas) Rice of Livonia, MI; son James (Maleticia) of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Heather of Phoenix, AZ; son Jeffery (Daniel) and daughter Lisa of Munising, MI; Nephews Mark (Jenny) Rice of Livonia MI; David (Dana) of Hagerstown, MD; Anthony (Elisabeth) LaMouria of Holland, MI; Josh (Julie) of Jackson MO; along with numerous grandchildren.
Peter’s Memorial Mass will be on Friday, 8 June, 2012, 12 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Munising. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery where Alger County’s American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
