Polly Marcek
Polly Marcek died Tuesday March 19th, 2013 after a recent struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 83 years old. Polly was born in Queens, New York to William and Elizabeth McMurdo. She is survived by her sister, Jan Tarbert, and her son Cliff and daughter Sharon. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in education from the University of Vermont in 1952 and later got her Master’s Degree. She moved to Las Vegas in 1958. She worked as a school teacher for many years and worked for the Social Security Administration as a Claims Representative later in life. She was an avid reader, loved to paint and liked to hike in Redrock Canyon. She retired in 1991 and was able to travel and spend time with her sister Jan in the Caribbean and in upstate New York. She was a kind, gentle woman who believed everybody was entitled to be treated with dignity.
A remembrance will be held at her son’s house at 8325 Paseo Vista Dr., Las Vegas, Nevada 89128 Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. Please do not send flowers. However, if you want to make a contribution her in name, send it to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
