Richard Eugene Blackburn Sr.

On March 8, 2011, Richard Eugene Blackburn Sr. lost his long, hard-fought battle with cancer and joined the ranks of heaven and is serving God’s purpose for him just as well as he served his country while he was here.

A retired veteran of the United States Air Force, SMSgt. Blackburn gave the Air Force 27 years and had continued to serve as a civilian after he retired in 2001 up until he was diagnosed in March of 2010. He knew what it was to be a man in the truest sense; he made an honest hard-working living, he was a devoted husband/loving father who always made sure his family was taken care of first no matter what and it’s just a shame he had to go so soon. Richard had a passion for the very symbol of the country he served proudly for so many years, the bald eagle. We believe he took flight with the eagles on that day to be with the angels watching over us every day until we are reunited again someday.

You will truly be missed by all each and every second you are gone as much as you were truly loved by all each and every second you were here. Soar free, no regrets and until we meet again, we love you and we really miss you. Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 8:40am. For those of you that knew him he wasn’t really a flower guy and we believe his wishes would be to give back to the military so donations can be made in remembrance of SMSgt. Richard E. Blackburn Sr. at the website Support our troops and let’s find a damn cure for cancer already please.
