Ronald W. Block

Ronald W. Block, 83 years old passed away peacefully at home in Henderson, Nevada on December 24, 2018 surrounded by family, after a battle against Alzheimer’s Disease.

Ron joined the USMC in 1950 and served through 1953. After he left the Marine Corp. he moved to California and opened a gas station.

Ron and his wife, Jean, left California and headed for Nevada where he obtained a job with the Showboat Casino as a Mechanic in the Bowling Center and worked his way up to VP of Slot Operations. As VP of Slot Operations, he moved to various locations to open new casinos within the Showboat Corporation. He retired from Showboat after 32 years.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Jean Block, his father Lawrence Block, his mother, Jeanette Block and his brother, Wayne Block.

Ron is survived by his two children, a son, Lawrence and (Nancy) Block. A daughter, Kelly and (Brian Camp), and siblings, James Block, Lawrence and (Diane) Block, Sharon Westerdahl, Peter Block, Shelby and (Jim Klug) and Sandi (Jim) Cole and 5 grandchildren Chrissy, Steven, Patrick, John and Michael. Plus, three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Mckenzie and Joseph.

The family will receive friends on January 4, 2019 from 11am to 12pm at La Paloma Funeral Services 5450 Stephanie St. Las Vegas, NV 89122
