Van Reid Bohman
Dr. Van Reid Bohman, age 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 3, 2021, following complications from heart surgery. Van was born on March 24, 1958, the 4th of 5 children, in Reno, Nevada, to Verle Rudolph Bohman and Celeste Renée Jorgensen Bohman. He graduated from Sparks High School before attending the University of Nevada, Reno. He then graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Finally, he finished his training with a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas, Southwestern. He practiced medicine in Texas, Kansas, and Nevada for more than 25 years. He was a caring, compassionate doctor who truly loved his patients.
In 1979, he married his childhood sweetheart, Valorie Murphy Bohman. They were married for 42 years and had 6 children together. Family was immensely important to Van, and he loved doting on his many grandchildren. He enjoyed being active all his life, taking up hobbies such as marathon running, scuba diving, cattle wrangling, cycling, and hunting.
Active in his faith his entire life, he served in his church in many positions and completed a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Oakland, California, area.
