Vincent W. Byers
Vincent W. Byers, 88, died on March 11, 2019, in Sparks, Nevada. He was born on June 15, 1930 in Albia, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ann Scott Byers.
He is survived by his three daughters, Angela B Kirkland (Dale), Stephanie Byers (Jeffrey Riolo) and Samantha Sprau (Bradley), two grandchildren, Victor Vincent Riolo Byers and Sydney Ann Riolo Byers and one brother, Howard “Bud” Byers (Barbara).
He resided at 14 Herradura Lane, Hot Springs Village, AR, 71909. He formally lived at 4416 Alexander Drive, Metairie, LA, 70003.
Retired, as Professor Emeritus, after 30 years with the Dept. of Communication Disorders, Louisiana State University. Medical Center, 1900 Gravier Street, New Orleans, LA, 70112.
He was Past-President of Southern Audiological Society and the LA Speech and Hearing Association (LASHA). He received Honors of the Association from LASHA He was a Fellow of the American Speech and Hearing Association and LASHA.
After graduating from high school in 1948, he entered the Air Force. Upon completing his service in the Air Force, he continued his education. He graduated with a B. S., 1955, and a M. A., 1956, from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. He received his Ph.D., 1961, from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA.
A memorial service will be held at Woodlands Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Village, AR, on April 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Donations may be made to either Woodlands Presbyterian Church, Hot Springs Village, AR, Covenant House, New Orleans, LA, or East Liberty Family Health Center, Pittsburgh, PA.
