Virginia Elizabeth Perry
Virginia Elizabeth Perry, 97, peacefully passed away February 26, 2017 in Reno, Nevada. Virginia was born in Dallas, Texas, to Charles and Mary (Dodson) Terry on August 25, 1919. She attended Dallas High School and graduated in 1938.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Kay Elizabeth Leikwold and husband, Jerry of Reno, NV, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Nathan Caldwell Perry in 2002; her parents, Charles and Mary and her siblings, Charles Terry, Jr., Ruth (Terry) Barnett and John Terry.
She traveled extensively which were highlights in her life. She enjoyed working with jewelry, bonsai plants and loved Asian-inspired furnishings which was how she decorated her home.
Acquiring some of her treasures during her travels to the Orient.
Virginia worked many jobs during her lifetime. The telephone company in Dallas and Chicago. After moving to California in 1955, she worked retail for a short time and then went to work at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine and the University Hospital from which she retired. She made many long-time friends during her life and enjoyed spending time with them and her family.
Virginia’s family wishes to thank her caregivers, Irene and Connie for their loving care while she remained in her home in California. Also, we wish to thank Monaco Ridge Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for their kind, gentle care after her relocation to Reno to be near Kay.
Memorial Service will be held crypt-side at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, California on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
